After a stunning, eagle filled drive through Cloncurry, the mines of Mt Isa were a stark backdrop to the well organised town. After awkwardly maneuvering past a smooching couple, The visitor information centre introduced us to the history of the mineral rich region with Russian and American influence to increase efficiency and profitably of extracting and transporting ore within 20 years of commercial operation overcoming strikes and inequality. The surrounding spinifex covered hills were covered with red kangaroos and redder dust. Final stop in QLD, ready for the Northern Territory!

In the centre of town boosts a fantastic free family fun park with extensive skate park, splash area and playground which entertained all for a hot afternoon. Unfortunately due to COVID, the big ISA Rodeo was cancelled however skiddy caravan park bike riding, pool time and communal bbq dinner and movie night under the stars with friends sealed the thumbs up for ISA.
