After departing Canberra on Tuesday July 7th 2020 for a 6 week trip in a mate’s Hilux (‘Burke’) to North and Central Australia, we set up our camper trailer (‘Hovell’) for the first time in Freeman’s Campground, Munmorah National Park near Newcastle. The 400km drive suggested that the trailer and bikes needed a little modification and additional tying down but survived the highway.
We rode our bikes, went fishing in the lagoon, did homeschool on a picnic bench and played laser tag with some new friends from Lake Macquarie.
No fires allowed which was a little disappointing for some little ones looking forward to wood chopping.
$50 a night. 5 minute walk to beach. 20 minute ride to Lake Munmorah. Well kept grounds.
